With the winter storm that went through the area last week, do you ever wonder when your street will get plowed by the city plows?
The city of Orono recently sent out a notice with the times they try to get out and plow city streets, parking lots, sidewalks and trails.
According to the release, main arterials and collectors roads are targeted to be plowed within four hours. These are high volume high speed routes, which connect major sections of the city. They provide access for emergency fire, police, and medical services though out the city, are targeted to be plowed within four hours.
In four to eight hours, the city targets residential streets, which are low volume low speed residential streets including cul-de-sacs used by mainly by local residents only
After that, they head to the parking lots and alleys hopefully within eight to 10 hours of when plows first start. These city owned parking lots include: City Hall, Police department, Public Works, Navarre Municipal Lot, Crystal Bay Post Office and the parking lots of the City Parks.
The city finishes up with sidewalks and trails in the 10 to 12 hour range. These are sidewalks adjacent to municipal property.
